The Glastonbury 12U District 7 Softball All-Stars capped off a flawless season with an impressive victory over West Hartford, clinching the District 7 Championship title on Friday, June 27, with a commanding 15-1 win.
The All-Stars were unstoppable this season, going undefeated in five straight games before rolling through the playoffs and ultimately raising the championship banner. Their success was built on unwavering dedication, hard work, and incredible team chemistry, with all 13 players contributing to this unforgettable run.
Throughout the tournament, Noelle Thibodeau and Calista Marston led the team with the two highest batting averages, consistently setting the tone at the plate. But this does not exclude the outstanding efforts from the rest of the lineup, as every player contributed with timely hits and aggressive offense that powered Glastonbury to victory after victory.
Friday night's championship game showcased the team's undeniable talent and determination. Kayla Kurnik set the tone from the mound, pitching four strong innings with nine strikeouts, allowing only three hits, one run, and walking just one batter. In the final inning, Anna Boucher closed out the game in dominant fashion, giving up zero hits, zero runs, and striking out three. Behind the plate, Noelle Thibodeau and Payton Sanscousy provided rock-solid support to both pitchers
At the plate, the Glastonbury bats were on fire. Isabella Fortier delivered a standout performance, driving in six runs with two doubles and a triple in just three at-bats. Skylar Hrapchak added to the offensive explosion with a clutch double that scored two runs, while Gabrielle Rozenshteyn, Gabreila Devanney, and Payton Sancousy each singled to bring in additional runs. Kayla Kurnik and Noelle Thibodeau also collected key hits, contributing to the 15-run outburst.
The outfielders—Calista Marston, Gabrela Devanney, Madeline Hribernik, Gabrielle Rozenshteyn and Alina Jendrzejczyk—were solid in the field, quickly tracking down balls and preventing additional scoring opportunities for West Hartford. In the infield, Anna Boucher, Isabella Fortier, Amelie Lewis, Mila Portereiko, Kayla Kurnik and Skylar Hrapchack all displayed excellent defensive skills, staying ready to back up every play. Amelie Lewis, second baseman, made several great plays, showing terrific timing and quick instincts to shut down opposing hitters and keep Glastonbury in control.
From Anna Boucher and Kayla Kurnik's firepower at the plate to the stellar defense and consistent hitting across the roster, this Glastonbury squad proved to be a force to be reckoned with.
The victory marks the next step in their postseason journey as the team now advances to the Section 3 tournament in Waterford June 30th through July 3rd.
Congratulations to the Glastonbury 12U District 7 Champions. Go Glastonbury!
