Minor League Division
The Home Run Card
The
League continues its Field Improvement Fund to
support the refurbishment of several fields. The Home
Run Card is a major fund-raiser for this Fund. Each
player will purchase two $5.00 Cards along with the $45
registration fee. The player may sell these valuable
discount cards and keep the proceeds of the sale. This
provides each player the opportunity to participate in the
development of facilities which all will enjoy.
Minor League Program: How it works
The
Minor League Program is generally for 9 and 10 year old
players. Players who are not selected for the Major Leagues
this season will be assigned to a Minor team. Players who
are 8 years old and wish to play at this level may request
to do so. Approval will be based on mutual consent of the
player's parent and the League President. This division uses
a standard baseball with players pitching. Players are
assigned to teams with consideration given to balance of
ages, special request by the players and school district.
Siblings will be assigned to the same teams.
There
will be a 14 game schedule played preceded by two weeks of
practices beginning early April. The season ends at the end
of the school year. Two games a week are played, starting at
5:45 pm on weekdays(5:15pm at Ross with 6:55pm curfew) and
on Saturday at 9:30am, 11:30am or 2:00p.m. Rain dates will
vary this schedule. Butler Fields, Gideon Welles, Rotary,
Welles Village, Nayaug and Ross Field will be used.
Important Minor League Playing Rules
In an
effort to provide safe play and equal baseball experience to
all Minor League players, the following apply. Players,
parents and coaches are urged to take note of
the playing rules.

player in a game. Please advise your coach if you are going
to miss a game as this rule requires pre-game planning
2. All players are placed in the batting order regardless of
whether they are playing a defensive position
3. The batting order will be set for the season. Players
will move up one batting order position with every game with
the lead off batter batting last in the next game. This
progression continues even when a player may be absent for a
game.
4. No player shall sit on the bench for consecutive innings.
5. Every player shall play at least two defensive inning(6
outs) at an infield position. The Pitcher and Catcher
positions shall be considered infield positions.

A
